Why Diving?

As a kid all I wanted to do was be a mermaid.  In 2018, my grandma gave me my PADI Open Water certification as a high school graduation gift, and sitting in that classroom, I knew I wanted to become an instructor one day. In December 2023, that dream came true. I’m proud to be one of the 20% of PADI professionals who are women. (hell-yeah)  I have met some amazing people through diving but I’ve also seen firsthand the devastating state of our oceans. From finding more beer cans than fish in Nha Trang, Vietnam to watching guides feed fish sweet bread for the perfect tourist photo in Nusa Penida, Indonesia, to the horrific Algal bloom in South Australia that is still affecting the water today.

I’ll share everything you need to know about getting into diving, from the excitement of your first breath underwater to the gear, training and confidence it takes to grow in the sport.

But with this I believe that diving comes with a responsibility, (cue uncle Ben from Spider Man here) When you spend time in the ocean, you’ll see for yourself how incredibly beautiful yet fragile it really is.
